Displaying your legal or preferred name

UC Berkeley recognizes that some students prefer to use first names other than their legal names to identify themselves. As long as the use of this preferred name is not for the purposes of misrepresentation, the university allows for multiple ways to display your personal information and list your preferred name in campus records and systems.

Visit Update Name & Personal Information on the Office of the Registrar website for details about name change and display options.
