Please note that our office, which includes in-person advising and callback queues, will close at 3 p.m. Pacific time before major federal holidays (EXCEPT during peak times, such as the start of each semester).
Visit our Virtual Front Desk
The Virtual Front Desk is a Zoom room staffed by our student workers who can help navigate you to the appropriate office to answer your questions. Standard hours: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Pacific time, Monday to Friday.
Open a case (use Chrome or Firefox)
Sometimes you have very specific questions; we understand! One way to get assistance from us is to open a case online. Your case will be directed to one of our trained staff who can either find answers or direct you to the appropriate department, resources, or provide you with next steps.
We respond to most inquiries within seven business days. There may be a delayed response of longer than seven days during high-volume periods or for complex inquiries that may require escalation.
Please note that cases are intended for non-urgent inquiries. If you have an urgent inquiry, please try using one of our other available services such as calling or coming in-person.

Not a student? Parents/guardians and alumni, among others, can open a case without a CalNetID. If possible, please include the student’s full name and student ID number to assist in resolving your case quickly!

Our cross-trained advisors are here to deliver comprehensive advising services and answer your question as quickly as possible.
We are organized to help you navigate among the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office, Office of the Registrar, and Billing and Payment Services. Start with us at Cal Student Central, and we’ll guide you through the process.
Our goal is to serve students more efficiently by:
- Maintaining this website as a resource for the most frequently asked questions we get from students like you.
- Providing one central location with service-oriented, cross-trained staff who aim to resolve issues with limited escalation to other offices. In cases where escalation is required for financial aid, billing, and registration issues, Cal Student Central will facilitate an internal escalation to the associated office.
Cal Student Central Visitor Code of Conduct
All visitors, including students, families, and staff, of Cal Student Central are expected to follow our Code of Conduct, outlined below.
Cal Student Central is dedicated to providing a harassment-free and positive experience for every individual. In order to do that, we need your help.
While using our services, visitors are expected to REFRAIN from the following activities:
Identity & Access
- Misrepresenting your identity or affiliation in any way.
- Gaining unauthorized access to other users’ CalCentral accounts, names, personally identifiable information, or other information.
- Allowing any other person to use CalCentral with your registration or login information.
- Assisting or permitting any persons in engaging in any of the activities described above.
Inappropriate Conduct (Including, but not limited to):
- Being rude, hostile, threatening, or belligerent to Cal Student Central personnel.
- Using profane language or a threatening tone either toward, or directed at Cal Student Central personnel. (This includes both verbally and in writing).
- Recording Cal Student Central personnel without expressed consent of that individual.
- Abusing Cal Student Central services. (This would include seeking multiple consultations for the same issue without any reason that would warrant a repeat visit. For example, to solely obtain a desired outcome or answer not provided during the first visit and/or that goes against University policies).
- Listening to other visitors’ conversations during in-person advising hours.
- Bringing in animals/pets with the exception of service animals (must be on a leash).
Violations & Consequences
If Cal Student Central personnel find you in violation of our Code of Conduct, we reserve the right to issue visitors a warning and/or promptly end service, as deemed appropriate by the Cal Student Central personnel.
- Visitors may be asked to return for service at a later time or date when they are able to observe our Code of Conduct.
- Please note that all students’ accounts are subject to internal documentation of prior interactions.
